The Pow' R' Kraft 7 Ton 15 amp splitter works great! I purchased this as a gift for my father. I've tried it out now myself and it works well. We've only split a few pieces of dry wood and will only be using it to further split existing split wood to better burn in the fireplace. I'd imagine for a real large job of splitting green or wet wood you'd be better off with a gas powered splitter, or be willing to take some time with this unit.

Nice splitter, great service. Unfortunately the splitter arrive damaged. It must have been dropped and the wheel bracket was bent. Called the manufacturer and got an auto message that everyone was busy. I left my name and number and resigned myself to an endless battle. It was not to be, my call was returned within 10 minutes. A very nice person transfered me to the parts department and a new bracket was placed on order. I am in Michigan and the manufacturer is on the West coast. To my surprise, the correct part arrived 10am next day FexEx. The Machine construction is sturdy and straightforward. Using simple hand tools and the bracket was replaced in 40 minutes or so.
As for the performance of the splitter, it does exactly what it claims. Maybe even a slightly larger diameter log. We have 6 acres, mostly Oak, Maple and Ash. It has not jammed or stalled yet. Only drawback is it's very low, really needs a stand. I have been using it on a small trailer pulled with an ATV. That seems to work well.
I recommend this product.

I ordered this splitter on May 6, 2010 and recieved it on May 10th, 2010. Fast delivery but the splitter did not perform as advertised. I purchased this splitter because I have a woodstove in my home and I usually would rent one for the weekend once a year to split all the wood in one fell swoop. I figured I would give this one a shot. The largest piece I had was 10 inches in diameter and 18 inches long. It would not split. Nor would 5 other pieces I had that were slightly smaller. Out of the 10 pieces I tried 4 split and 6 did not. The wood was green not seasoned but thats why we split it, so it can dry out. The pieces were not knotty either. I allready repackaged it for the return.

Initially I really liked this product, it was easy to use, compact, and used a standard electrical 15 amp socket connection. However, once I began attempting to split larger pieces of wood (more than 10 inches in diameter) it consistantly failed. This was extremely disappointing considering the majority of my wood consists of moderate to large pieces. The fact that even moderate sized wood did not work with this product indicated to me that electrical log splitters simply do not have enough strength to do more than create kindling. I was forced to return this product as a result of this discovery.

I actually bought this log-splitter for my husband, he wasn't excited about the Christmas present that I had given him, so he had one of those poutty faces, I asked him what did he want and he procedes to take me on the internet to amazon.com to show me what he wanted. So after Christmas I broke down and purchased it for him, it was delivered while we were on a cruise, and he wanted to jump ship so he could go (play) with it, not that this thing is a toy, but it sure can split some logs and it made the (big baby) HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!! So I got a thrilled husband and lots of firewood in the bargain. It turned out to be a great present after all.
